Why add golden monkeys?
Golden monkey trekking offers a different rhythm from gorilla trekking. The monkeys are active, social and often move quickly through bamboo, giving photographers and wildlife lovers a dynamic forest experience.
It is an excellent second activity in the Volcanoes region and can make a two- or three-night stay feel much richer.
What to expect
The experience begins with a park briefing, followed by a guided forest walk. Conditions can be muddy or wet, so the same practical trekking clothing used for gorillas is helpful. Because the monkeys can move rapidly, patience and attention to guide instructions improve the experience.
